Lean-To Number 2

The rams and llamas needed a small lean-to as well so Shane and Amy got one built! A 10x12 lean-to for 4 rams and 2 llamas Now it has 2 solid walls facing South and West. A half wall faces East. The rain storms come from the South-West so the lean-to protects completely those two … Continue reading Lean-To Number 2

Lean-To is Complete

Lean-To is Complete

Other than painting the plywood to keep it from weathering, the lean-to is built! The right side is a 10x18 area for the horse and the left is a 10x18 area for the yearling lambs and the pet wether so they may eat alfalfa without the horse pigging out. The grass hay is fed outside … Continue reading Lean-To is Complete

The Horse/Ram Winter Lean-to is going to be 18x21 and split in half (2, 10x18 sections) with a wall only the rams can go through in one section and 2, 4 ft man doors (1 door for … Continue reading Busy Day on the Homestead

Castration Day

Castration Day

Today the Old Farmer’s Almanac said it was a “Best Day” for castrating livestock. I only had one ram lamb to do as the other 3 may have uses as rams in the future. Below I describe who gets castrated and some of the process. Be aware, it’s very descriptive, so you’ve been warned if…
